June 2026 archive. The dates below belong to June 2026 and these events have now passed. For your next trip, explore our latest Riga guides and the venues’ current programmes.

Some Riga trips are built around a concert. Others begin with an evening stroll and end with flowers in your hair. June brings those two versions of the city together: an opera-house evening, a discovery in an Old Town museum, a basket of Latvian crafts and the music of Midsummer stretching into the early morning.

For June 2026, the calendar ranges from André Rieu at Xiaomi Arēna to the Riga Opera Festival, the Great Latvian Crafts Fair and the city’s Līgo celebrations. Here are nine cultural dates and exhibitions that give the month its summer character — with official sources so you can explore the programmes behind them.

🎶 Concerts, opera and ballet: choose your evening

🎻 André Rieu at Xiaomi Arēna — 4 June

When: 4 June 2026, 20:00.
Where: Xiaomi Arēna, Skanstes iela 21.

A concert built around melody, waltzes and the pleasure of a large orchestra offers a cheerful opening to the month. André Rieu’s Riga programme will bring the Johann Strauss Orchestra to the arena, with music reaching beyond the classical concert hall into film and musicals.

This is a natural pick for a couple’s music-focused city break: time for Riga’s cafés and parks during the day, followed by an evening performance. Xiaomi Arēna is the venue formerly known as Arena Riga — the names refer to the same place.

🎭 Riga Opera Festival — 4–20 June

Where: Latvian National Opera, Aspazijas bulvāris 3.

The opera house gives June a ready-made cultural itinerary. The festival opens with a new production of Puccini’s La bohème on 4 June and continues through to the gala concert on 20 June.

Ballet is an equally good reason to look closely at the programme. Peer Gynt is scheduled for 6 June, the double bill The Concert / Cacti for 7 June, Casanova for 11 June and The Sleeping Beauty for 13 June. For a lighter operatic evening, Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore is scheduled for 12 June.

For visitors who do not speak Latvian, ballet offers a particularly approachable way into the city’s performing arts. The opera house also pairs naturally with a canal-side walk and dinner in the centre.

🎸 Palaye Royale at Palladium — 16 June

When: 16 June 2026.
Where: Palladium Rīga.

For an alternative to orchestral music, Palaye Royale return to Riga with their theatrical blend of alternative rock and glam-inspired style. The Palladium date adds a more energetic club-concert option to the middle of the month.

It also shows why checking several venues matters: Riga’s summer music calendar extends beyond the arena, with smaller concert halls offering a different atmosphere.

🧺 Great Latvian Crafts Fair — 6–7 June

When: 6–7 June 2026, 09:00–17:00.
Where: Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum, Bonaventuras iela 10.

If you want one daytime event with a distinctly Latvian character, this is a strong choice. The museum’s annual fair will bring together crafts, local food and a programme of folk music, dancing and activities for children.

Rather than treating shopping as a quick souvenir stop, the fair makes it part of the day out: ceramics, woven pieces, woodwork and things made by hand, alongside opportunities to see traditional skills demonstrated. The open-air museum setting gives the visit a different pace from an afternoon in the Old Town.

🌿 Zāļu tirgus in the Old Town — 19 June

When: 19 June 2026, 09:00–19:00.
Where: Doma laukums.

The Midsummer Market will bring the preparations for Līgo into the centre of Riga. Flower and herb sellers, wreath makers, craftspeople and local food producers will fill the square with the ingredients of the coming holiday.

For a short city break, this is an easy way to encounter the tradition without leaving the Old Town. Browse a few stalls, choose something handmade and make room for a relaxed lunch nearby. It falls on a separate date from Midsummer night itself, so visitors need to plan for 19 June rather than 23 June.

🔥 Jāņu riti at Uzvaras parks — 20 June

When: 20 June 2026, 15:00, continuing until 02:00 on 21 June.
Where: Uzvaras parks.

This pre-Midsummer celebration offers an earlier taste of the holiday: craft activities, a market, folk traditions and music, with an evening fire ritual and dancing later on. It suits visitors whose weekend ends before the main Līgo night.

🌙 Jāņi at Dzegužkalns — 23–24 June

When: 23 June 2026, 20:00, until 04:30 on 24 June.
Where: Dzegužkalns park.

For the traditional Midsummer experience, Dzegužkalns will combine songs, dancing and fire through the short summer night. The announced programme includes Iļģi and the Riga Dance Club, making it a chance to encounter Latvian folk culture as a shared celebration.

For either park event, a light extra layer and a planned route back are sensible companions. The celebrations continue after midnight, so the following day belongs in the itinerary too.

🎨 Two exhibition openings for an Old Town afternoon

💍 Spectrum: Beautiful Nature — from 10 June

Where: Museum of Decorative Arts and Design, Skārņu iela 10.

This jewellery exhibition opens on 10 June, exploring nature through the materials, forms and ideas of contemporary Latvian jewellery artists. It offers a smaller-scale cultural discovery between the month’s bigger performances and outdoor gatherings — a useful choice for travellers interested in design and objects made to be examined closely.

🖼️ Lidó Rico: The Revelation — from 19 June

Dates: 19 June–23 August 2026.
Where: Art Museum RIGA BOURSE, Doma laukums 6.

The Spanish artist’s exhibition will place contemporary sculpture in conversation with the museum’s historic interiors and permanent collection. Its opening on 19 June offers another reason to spend time around Dome Square beyond the market stalls outside.

For a slower day, these two Old Town museums could form a cultural afternoon, with a café stop between them. Exact opening days always matter when turning an exhibition list into an itinerary.
